The Kodiak Urban Area includes the road system communities of the City of Kodiak, Kodiak Station (U.S. Coast Guard Base), & Women's Bay.

Overland Access The City of Kodiak is located on an island, and therefore cannot be accessed by land.
Air Access The State-owned Kodiak Airport provides three asphalt runways. Kodiak Municipal Airport also has a paved runway. Three scheduled airlines serve Kodiak with several daily flights, and a number of air taxi services provide flights to other cummunities on the island. Seaplane bases at Trident Basin and Lilly Lake serve floatplane traffic. See the Air Logistics page.
Runway Conditions The State Airport has three runways: 7500ft., 5400ft., 5000ft.; elevation: sealevel; suface is paved; fuel is available.

The Municipal Airport's runway is 2500ft.; elevation: 139ft.; surface is paved; fuel is available.
Commercial Airlines Alaska Airlines and Era Aviation provide daily commercial flights to Kodiak.

Vessel Access The Alaska Marine Highway System operates a ferry service to and from Seward and Homer. The Port of Kodiak includes two boat harbors and three commercial piers. Boat launch ramps and vessel haul-outs are also available. See the Port Facilities page.

Extent/ Condition of Local Roads (miles of road, surface, condition)

Over 50 miles of local roads exist in Kodiak. Most are paved. There is a road to nearby Chiniak, a little over 40 miles away.

Approximately 140 miles of state roads connect island communities on the east side of the island.
